📚 Overview & Why Choose Campus
Q. What makes Kokuyo Campus notebooks different from other notebooks? ▼ Tap to view
Our Campus notebooks stand out for their perfect blend of premium Japanese quality and everyday durability. Since their debut in 1975, we have continually evolved them to become Japan's most beloved notebooks thanks to a few unique features:
- Unique Lay-Flat Binding: Instead of traditional staples or stiff glue, we use a specialized spine-tape binding. This allows the notebook to lay flat on your desk and is incredibly durable—pages won't fall out even with heavy use.
- Strict Quality Control: Our proprietary paper is manufactured under rigorous standards to ensure a consistently smooth writing experience.
- Everyday Premium: You get high-end features at an affordable price, making it accessible for everyone from students to professionals.
Q. Are Kokuyo Campus notebooks worth it for studying and note-taking? ▼ Tap to view
Absolutely! In fact, they are the absolute standard for studying and note-taking in Japan.
While Japanese stationery is often considered a luxury abroad, Campus notebooks are designed to be your reliable, everyday "workhorse." They are lightweight to carry, durable enough to survive being tossed in a backpack, and offer a premium writing experience that makes studying and working just a little bit more enjoyable.
✍️ Finding Your Perfect Notebook & Paper
Q. Which Kokuyo Campus notebook format should I choose? ▼ Tap to view
- Classic Notebook (Semi-B5): The iconic Japanese standard. A perfect balance of portability and space for class and everyday notes.
- Soft Ring Notebook: Recommended if you prefer ring binding but want Kokuyo's original squishy rings that won't dig into your hand.
- Loose-Leaf & Smart Ring Binders: Best if you want to add, remove, or reorganize pages by subject.
- Study Planner: Designed specifically for planning study sessions, setting goals, and tracking progress.
Q. Which paper ruling (lines, dots, grid) should I choose? ▼ Tap to view
Honestly, it comes down entirely to your personal preference and writing style! We offer several options so you can pick your favorite:
- Lined: The classic, versatile format for everyday writing.
- Dotted Line: Kokuyo’s famous innovation! It features subtle dots along the lines to help you seamlessly align text, draw neat tables, and space out bullet points.
- Grid: A favorite for those who love structured layouts, drawing charts, or bullet journaling.
- Plain (Blank): A completely open canvas for free-form sketching and mind maps.
Q. Is Kokuyo Campus paper suitable for fountain pens and highlighters? ▼ Tap to view
*Note: Performance can vary. For very wet fountain pen inks, broad nibs, or heavy alcohol-based markers, we recommend testing on a small area first as some show-through may occur.
📏 Sizes, Refills & Compatibility
Q. What is the difference between JIS B5 and Semi-B5 size? ▼ Tap to view
- JIS B5 (Standard Japanese B5): Measures 182 × 257 mm.
- Semi-B5 (Campus Standard): Measures 179 × 252 mm.
Our Semi-B5 is carefully designed to be just slightly narrower (3mm) and shorter (5mm). Always check the exact product dimensions before purchasing a non-Kokuyo cover or binder!
Q. How do I make sure loose-leaf paper or refills fit my binder? ▼ Tap to view
- Paper Size: Make sure your binder and refill paper are the exact same size (e.g., A4, B5, or A5).
- Number of Holes: This is crucial! Japanese loose-leaf systems use specific multi-hole patterns (e.g., B5 requires 26-hole paper, A5 requires 20-hole). Standard Western 3-ring or 4-ring paper will generally not fit!
